Microlighting
I’ve always liked flying and as a boy in the Air Training Cadets went up in gliders and small aircraft, but I had never been up in a Microlight so here was my chance! It was also really good value and quite local to where I live – in St.Albans
I loved the mixture of excitement and uncertainty as we sat on the airfield waiting for the engine to reach the right temperature before taking off. I guess the adrenaline flows faster when there is something of the fear-of-the-unknown right in front of your face. Actually taking control of the microlight in the air was also a thrill and being able to move the tiny aircraft around the sky was an eye-opener. And finally landing on the airstrip and stopping so quickly that you feel that you could have landed it in your back-garden was something else! Even though the day was drizzly and cold, the clothing provided ensured that once in the air I felt perfectly warm. I would recommend this to anyone who likes flying and gets a buzz from doing something new.
